As a journalist, I’ve reported breaking news, enterprise pieces and long-form interviews and essays. I’ve also managed teams of talented writers and reporters to tell compelling stories.

Journalism

I spent the first 15 years of my career as a journalist, first in Worcester, Massachusetts, before taking a job as a reporter for the Chicago Sun-Times Company, and eventually becoming a founding editor of Time Out Chicago.

    Once and future King James

My interview with LeBron James and his high-school basketball coach, for Time Out Chicago. Afterwards we shook hands and I have never felt smaller.

    Chicago's funniest writer

You know how some people proclaim they were into bands before they got popular? That’s how I feel about TV writer and best-selling essayist Samantha Irby.

Brand editorial

Bringing an editorial eye to brand work has led to the creation of fulfilling work in a new arena. Whether it’s long-form journalism, video, or podcasts, I’ve enjoyed being able to connect with a different audience in an approachable, trusted manner. Some editorial work also appears on my copywriting portfolio page.

  • Make It Make Sense

    Make It Make Sense

I pitched and created series of infographics to engage and educate Walgreens customers on important health topics. For this one, we wanted to make medication adherence, a fairly dry topic, digestible and memorable for our audience

  • The Public Impact Podcast

    The Public Impact Podcast

One of the challenges for Public Spend Forum was connecting with a larger audience on the impact that public procurement has on their lives. It’s not a topic that quickens the pulse. So I pitched and created a podcast to help bring stories of impact to life.
